SA Franchise Brands welcomes Mike Da Silva, Franchisor of Cartridge Hyper.
What has been paramount to Cartridge Hyper’s success?
We believe that our customer service and the understanding of customer needs have been paramount to our success. Cartridge Hyper is aware of the ever-changing market trends and customer needs, and our range will adapt to reflect these changes when required.
What challenges do you face at present?
Our pricing is based on the Rand/Dollar exchange rate, so when the Rand weakens against the dollar pricing fluctuates.
With a network of 14 franchises nationwide, how has your franchise model worked in favour of the group?
We are recognised partners with all the big brands in our industry, therefore giving us the best possible support.
What are some of the attributes required from franchisees?
The qualities you require to become a successful Cartridge Hyper Franchisee are:
- A strong desire to be in your own business
- Strong customer focus
- Financially stable
- Motivated and be able to motivate others
- Computer literacy
- Outgoing nature
- Sound business sense
How would you describe the overall relationship between the group and its franchisees?
We have a strong working relationship with our franchisees, with an open line of communication. We enter into a partnership with our franchisees and we aim to forge a long term and successful relationship with each of our franchisees.
What kind of training and support can franchisees expect?
We give our franchisees an initial four to six weeks in store training which gives them a full understanding of our business and what is required of them on a day to day bases. In the first two weeks of opening, we send out a team of experts from head office to assist the franchisee and his staff find their feet in their own store.
Which factors are paramount for sustained future growth within the group with specific reference to its present and future franchisees?
The concentration of our Franchisees on the area of expertise being cartridges, with a focus on providing our clients with a sustained high quality of service and advice, is critical for our growth.
Where to from here and into the future?
We intend to grow our national footprint to forty franchises by the end of 2016. Most importantly, we will maintain a strong focus on organic growth for the group. We believe that organic growth is as important, if not more important than expansion.
