SA Franchise Brands welcomes Rodene Mostert, Franchisee for Sandwich Baron in Secunda to share some aspects on being a Franchisee.
What questions should prospective franchisees ask themselves before buying a franchise?
Am I willing to put in 110% and give it my all?
What made you decide to buy a franchise?
I love working with food and it has always been my dream to own a small restaurant. In opening a Sandwich Baron was the start of fulfilling my dreams.
How important is it to investigate a franchise and what criteria did you use?
You need to make sure that the franchise will work in your area. It is important to get feedback from people in the area and take it from there.
What made you buy a Sandwich Baron franchise?
Sandwich Baron does not only cater for adults and companies but it is also a family take away and people love the food. It was a great opportunity for me moving to the Waterfront (Aqua Zone) we can cater for the youth as well.
What training and support does the Franchisor provide you with?
The Franchisor provides a full training course from making the food, to taking orders and managing a store. Whenever you need Sally and her team is always there for you.
How important is the Franchisee’s relationship with the Franchisor?
It is very important. No matter how well you might think you know the business or the system and staff, you always go back to the Franchisor and ask for some help. And the thing I love about it is that they are always ready to help.
What advice would you give to prospective franchisees?
I would say you must make 100% sure that this is what you want to do. It is hard work and must be taken seriously.
