The Brand

The Auto-Mate Service Centres concept was founded in 2006 and established with the objective of providing best price, fast and efficient motor vehicle servicing for out-of-warranty vehicles. The success of the Auto-Mate network is built on hosting clean and neat workshops, value for money product and service delivery and friendly, customer focused staff. After successfully opening a number of corporately owned outlets, testing and proving the success of the business model, a national footprint was established through franchising.

Compelled by stringent credit laws and with the market still recovering from the economic slump, South African consumers are holding onto their vehicles for longer. With an already extensive customer base, the potential for new business in both high-density urban locations as well as previously disadvantaged areas is significant.


Auto-Mate Service Centres have acquired a reputation for efficient, value for money vehicle servicing, finishing the job on time and exercising honesty in all their dealings. The unique business processes employed by Auto-Mate Service Centres have been developed over many years and are constantly being updated to accommodate technological advances.

Auto-Mate Service Centres undertake minor and major services, most repairs including clutch and brake repairs and engine and gearbox overhauls on all types of vehicles, including 4×4’s and LDV’s. Auto-Mate also offers diagnostic wear and tear identification using hi-tech equipment suitable for even the latest model vehicles. Diagnostic machine software is upgraded regularly in order to be able to diagnose vehicle faults, clear fault codes and reset service lights.
The product delivery of Auto-Mate Service Centres is focused on repairs for vehicles out of their manufacture warranty, usually between two and 15 years old.

Auto-Mate Service Centres occupy premises of at least 300m² located on a main road and providing good visibility, easy access and sufficient parking. Positive indicators during site selection are dense urban districts, new developments, up-market commercial and office areas and proximity to suppliers.


The franchisor provides assistance with lease negotiations, equipment, signage and stock and tool purchases, assisting franchisees with the establishment of a turnkey operation. During the first few days of trading, an Auto-Mate representative will be on-site to provide support, assistance and advice, ensuring that the methodologies and processes are being implemented correctly.

Franchisees receive an Operations and Procedures manual that serves as a business guide and handbook to the Auto-Mate operations and methodologies. A comprehensive week long initial training program incorporates systems and business methodology, management, customer service, reception and administration, financial and workshop processes.

While the franchisor is responsible for national marketing and promotions, local marketing is the responsibility of the franchisee. The franchisor supplies the marketing material required for local marketing initiatives and will advise and assist with the execution of local marketing programs.

Auto-Mate will assist the franchisee in recruiting suitably skilled staff.
