Car Service City was established in 2004 as the first franchise offering in the Car City Holdings’ stable of business opportunities. With over 74 car servicing workshops countrywide specialising in affordable servicing and repairs of all makes of vehicles, the group’s expansion into other exciting, related opportunities has led to the opening of Car Wash City and Car Audio & Security City.

Concept

Car Service City outlets are available in three formats identified as Basic, Intermediate and Superior. Through its network of conveniently located workshops, Car Service City aims to provide best quality car servicing at affordable prices in a manner pleasing to customers. As part of their customer-friendly service offering, Car Service City outlets offer a shuttle service that will convey customers to their home or workplace within a seven kilometre radius.

Car Service City provides a service and repair facility for all makes of vehicles. In addition to major vehicle services, they also offer brake, clutch, CV joint, exhaust, carburetor, radiator repairs, etc. Car Service City customers enjoy a six month or 10,000 kilometre guarantee (whichever comes first) on all work carried out.

Car Service City’s core target market is vehicles which no longer have a service or maintenance plan attached or falls outside of their warranty plans. And now with the Right to Repair act in place, Car Service City can also start targeting customers who’s service and maintenance plans have lapsed but that are still in warranty.

Suitable venues offer sufficient off-road parking for 12 to 15 vehicles as well as prominent signage displays. While a Basic model service centre will occupy 280 to 320sqm and is unlikely to offer main street frontage, the Superior outlet workshop will occupy upwards of 380sqm and will be located in a shopping centre or other high traffic location with street frontage.

In a typical Car Service City outlet the branch manager or franchise owner will be supported by an administrative secretary, from one qualified mechanic supported by workshop assistants, one car wash and general cleaner, as well as approximately ten flyer distributors.

Support

The head office provides franchisees with invaluable, practical support including a roving Car Service City company manager who spends time at each newly opened outlet. The company manager is charged with assisting with the day-to-day management and ironing out any problems that may arise.

Every franchisee, branch manager and secretary is required to attend specifically designed training courses, at one of Head Office owned branches, lasting three to four weeks. In addition to being trained on all secretarial and managerial functions, the franchisee’s training includes all Car Service City procedures and standards, financial controls, administrative requirements and procedures and staff management. Further on-going training regarding products and systems ensures that franchisees remain abreast of developments within the car service industry.

Car Service City employs both traditional and non-traditional advertising formats and promotions are rolled out to franchisees at regular intervals.
