The Brand

The hospitality industry is a continually growing segment of the South African economy. Core Catering Supplies was established in 1998 with the objective of servicing this rapidly growing industry by providing a range of local as well as imported glassware, cutlery, crockery, kitchenware and uniforms. Many products are imported directly from the various manufacturers across the globe and sold to the trade through a network of stores. Large stock holdings, fast service and highly competitive pricing established Core Catering Supplies as a leading supplier to the hospitality industry. Over the years Core Catering has gained a reputation for its quick and well priced products and services.

In 2009, inspired by years of successful growth, Core Catering Supplies decided to further grow the brand by sharing their business model with other aspiring entrepreneurs. Its countrywide representation has lead to Core becoming a favourite supplier and the ever increasing buying power of the group allows for better pricing to the end user. Product lines include a range of local and international glassware, crockery, cutlery, kitchen smalls, kitchen equipment, bar accessories and uniforms.

Concept

Core Catering Supplies promotes owner-operator businesses and franchised stores across the country are strategically located in close proximity to a strong hospitality market. Each outlet is fully branded and stocked with all the essential product and operational facilities required for a successful operation. Business is encouraged and promoted by sales representatives who call on prospective clients rather than waiting for business to find them.

End user customers range from hotels, bars and restaurants to government departments, corporate clients and private individuals, in essence anyone who requires the essential aspects of kitchen, canteen and tableware.

Finding appropriate premises is key to a successful operation and particular consideration must be given to the demographic of the surrounding trade and the potential for growth. While the franchisee may propose a site, aspects in terms of size, pricing, location and operational suitability will be assessed by the franchisor. Stores range in size from 200m² to 400m². Depending on the size of the outlet, a typical franchise will employ between four and ten staff members.

Support

Franchisees and staff attend induction training at the head office training facility in Cape Town or Johannesburg. The franchisor’s pro-active involvement in the success of each franchise outlet enables franchisees to deliver the first-class service Core Catering is known for.
