Dominic Johnson-Allen moved to South Africa from the UK in 2003 where he had previously spent his career developing hotel and restaurant brands; predominantly for Whitbread Hotel Company.
Crave was established in 2007 after he spotted an opportunity for a healthy, fast but fresh food concept here in South Africa, similar to those now throughout Europe.
People are so important to us, both in terms of those that work with us and those that we serve. We always find time for a party here and there and take great care making sure everyone is happy in their work.
We are still a very small company, but as we are growing quickly, we are always looking out for great new people to join our team. We provide on the job training, so your attitude is more important to us than your experience, although it helps!
Crave is an exciting new food and coffee brand providing the best ‘on the go’ food and drinks in South Africa.
‘Healthy, fresh, food fast’ is what we are all about; sandwiches, salads, wraps, ciabatta, baguettes, breakfasts, burritos, smoothies, croissant, muffins…the menu is full of lovely, tasty stuff made the way you would make it at home.
We cater predominantly for the busy office worker as our stores are all in prime business locations plus we offer an extensive ‘platter menu’ for any of your breakfast, lunchtime or early evening functions.
Our mix of retail convenience with a café vibe has been a huge hit with all of our loyal customers so we are now planning to roll out this success to other busy areas of South Africa by offering franchise opportunities.

Crave believes that your success equals their success and being small, they are able to offer their franchisees a hands-on and personal support structure. Right from the start, they assist with site selection, lease negotiations and the development process. This is followed up with continued operational support, audits and training.
Crave franchisees will receive pre-opening training at their flagship store in Cape Town and further training in their own store after opening.
Suppliers will be sourced and approved by Crave until they open their central kitchen.
