Inspect-A-Home, founded in 1985 by Eric Bell, is a full service home inspection company specialising in residential, commercial and industrial property.

The Brand

Inspect-A-Home, founded in 1985 by Eric Bell, is a full service home inspection company specialising in residential, commercial and industrial property. Over the 36 + years in operation, Inspect-A-Home has established itself as the leader in the home inspection arena in South Africa and has been instrumental in the development and maturation of the industry.

Our goal is to provide an unparalleled, professional property inspection service, nationwide – the kind that only our Inspect-A-Home independent franchise operators are trained and equipped to offer. Currently, we are the only property inspection company that has inspectors in the major cities across the country, and plan to provide inspections services across the whole country, even in smaller towns.

Concept

We are :
– Pioneers and leaders in home inspections in South Africa
– Oldest and longest standing home inspections company in the country – 36 years +
– The only South African home inspections company that can currently service areas across the country

From inception, Inspect-A-Home has used its extensive experience to help clients make informed decisions when buying property, as well as guiding and supporting them when building. Our clients range from individual buyers, to estate agents, property managers, residential and commercial property developers, conveyancing attorneys and many more.

Inspect A Home does not only report on visible defects, but gives preventative and maintenance advice as well. If there’s something that Inspect A Home knows from experience can be problematic in the future, it will be reported on. Then, if the advice is followed, this may save thousands of Rand in future repair costs.

Inspect A Home is not affiliated with any estate agents or building contractors and is, therefore, completely unbiased in our report and recommendations to clients. Our reports are completely factual and unbiased and will stand up in a court of law if need be.

We don’t use checklists. Reports are narrative, often with supporting photographs, that explain the problems/defects, how they can be rectified, and what costs would be involved. This is a totally unique service to Inspect A Home.

Support

Our team of home inspection experts are all personally trained and approved by Eric Bell, Director of Inspect-a-home, and have years of industry experience and knowledge to add to the requirements of Inspect-a-home business and ethical practices.

The theoretical and practical training our inspectors receive is unparalleled in South Africa. As there has been no formal building inspector degree or certification during this time, in 2005 Eric compiled an extensive Inspect-a-home home inspectors training course utilising his experience, knowledge and skills in the building industry and his building inspections experience to ensure that the material follows the NBR, CSIR, SABS SANS 1-0400 building regulations and the NHBRC manual. Potential Inspect-a-home inspectors are personally trained and graded by Eric and only inspectors that successfully complete the course and are approved by him are appointed as Inspect-a-home inspectors.

Each newly appointed inspector’s first 6 months of inspections and inspection reports are reviewed and overseen by Eric, until he confirms that their reports meet our high ethical and quality standards and the reports are of such quality, detail and technical accuracy that they could stand as evidence in court. The inspector is taught as part of his initial training how to generate a report, what to include in the report, how to word specific aspects and the inspectors’ report quality and writing skills are assessed by Eric Bell on an ad hoc basis to ensure consistency and non-deviation from the template.

We also have a national support infrastructure of engineers, architects, entomologists, geologists, quantity surveyors and other professionals that we can draw on if the need arises.

Ongoing training is conducted to ensure the inspectors are up to date on the latest standards and they are provided with SA roofing and SA affordable housing publications to keep up to date on the latest trends in the industry.

Are You Our Next Franchisee?
