We strive to bring professionalism to an industry filled with misconceptions and exploitation, and to a large part, we have succeeded in that. We have developed a reputation, not only in the Cape where we began, but all over the country, that is synonymous with quality service, superior advice, and of course, staff of the highest caliber.
We operate all over South Africa, from Johannesburg and Pretoria to Cape Town, George and Knysna, continuously growing. By no means do we assure that finding somebody to work in your home, close to your family, in your personal life and space is easy, it’s not. Because of this, we bring total transparency to all our dealings, with clients and candidates, we don’t cut corners, we don’t bend the law. We don’t make promises and representations that we can’t back up, just to make the deal.
Our placement fee includes a three-month warranty, which gives one plenty of time to find the right person, should the initial, or even second choice, not work out, for whatever reason. Commissioning our services is totally free, and should you not find a suitable candidate through us, no fee is payable. Only once we have sourced somebody with whom you are happy, and a job offer made, do we charge. And our service doesn’t stop there. From assisting with contracts and UIF registrations, to on-going advice, we remain committed to ensuring a successful placement.
The knowledge and professionalism that we bring into the domestic worker space is unparalleled elsewhere in South Africa. Our knowledge of the working population of domestic workers is extensive and exhaustive from being able to spot a false reference at 500 meters to being able to disprove sick notes and even death certificates.
We offer ongoing Franchise Support and a set division for Franchise Support and Compliance, this ensures that our ever-growing network of Franchises, grow and expand parallel to the legislative prescripts as set forth by the Department of Labour. We help our Franchisees to employ and register the very best domestic workers and housekeepers available, to establish their networks and grow their data base. With Marvellous Maids behind them and new-found knowledge they will have the credibility to place housekeepers in the very top houses in their areas.
Broad shoulders, thick skin, sharp tongue. Think on your feet and reach for the stars. It is more about the personal characteristics of the Franchisee than education. Where they lack certain skills, they can employ. For example, they might be shocking administrators but are superb salespeople.
Having Street Smarts and some business acumen is important, as is a positive attitude, persistence and determination and a failed business, provided lessons were learnt, would be very useful. We have two Franchisees with MBA degrees and another who is completing his MBA next year. Then we have Joseph, who was my driver and knows Marvellous Maids inside out, is short on bookkeeping and administrative skills. He is one of my most successful franchisees!
