As working mothers, Benita Goodwin and Sharon Poyner understand the importance parents place on a dependable, reliable and safe school transfer service. It is in response to the demand for exactly such a service that they established Rubix Shuttles and Transfers. Rubix will transport scholars to and from school, extra-mural activities and other specific requests, allowing parents to get on with their day, assured that their children are in safe hands.

While maintaining a focus on scholar transport, Rubix aims to be the preferred supplier of shuttle and transfer solutions for all occasions. Currently Rubix Shuttles and Transfers is operational in the Central, Northern and Eastern suburbs of Johannesburg, with plans to expand their reach by establishing a franchise network across South Africa.

Concept

Rubix Shuttles and Transfers is a franchised business opportunity offering transportation services with a particular focus on servicing the scholar market. Rubix has gained a reputation for their top class customer service, reliability, safety and convenience and each owner-managed franchise is closely monitored by the head office for performance and service levels.

Rubix provides a friendly, caring transport environment where their clients’ safety is their first priority. Using Rubix Shuttles and Transfers’ services is as good as having a personal chauffeured service without the associated costs. In addition to their shuttle-based school transport services, Rubix also offers tailor-made transfer services for corporate and social occasions.

Their school transport services are geared towards working parents who need a safe and reliable solution for school transportation, so they may continue their workday comfortable in the knowledge that their children are safe.

As a Rubix Shuttles and Transfers franchise is easily operated from a home office, franchisees are not required to establish a business premises. However, should the franchisee wish to establish a business premises, such a proposal must be submitted to the franchisor for approval.

Each shuttle bus is manned by two staff members who supervise and ensure the safety of their young charges during transportation. All Rubix staff members are required to pass the Rubix Internal Training Programme. In addition, they are security cleared, possess a clean driver’s record as well as a Professional Drivers Permit (PrDP) and are first aid certified.

Support

Using their knowledge and expertise the franchisor supports franchisees in their endeavours to promote their business. Franchisees receive on-going operational support and assistance and are closely monitored to ensure that performance and service levels are adhered to.

Franchisees are required to complete an in-house induction training course conducted over five days including a period of on-the-job training. Drivers and child minders also receive training on the following subjects, as applicable to their job description; driver training, customer service training and first aid training.

Each franchisee is responsible for localised advertising within their allocated territory.
