The Brand

School Link started in 2004 by Val Graunke and was conceptualised while she was working at a nursery school and seeing how many parents were using the school bus to transport their children. She decided to introduce this service to other schools and take over the overflow of the nursery school bus. A reliable second hand VW Combi was purchased and started with fifteen children on the first day. Growth only took place once each bus started paying for itself and very soon a new bus was introduced every six months. As logistics plays a major role, the only way forward was to franchise.


School Link was one of the first school transport operations offering a door to door service for parents, as school buses only drop off and collect children at central meeting points. School Link has an assistant on every bus, ensuring the safety of the children and that the driver has no distractions. We also offer a sms service (on request) where parents are notified that the child is at home. All our staff are trained in CPR and our buses have cameras monitoring all activities in and out the bus. With more and more working mothers, this service is invaluable. School Link has a good reputation, is one of the oldest operators and is well known in this industry.


Staff work on an existing School Link bus for a week and drivers undergo a driving test each year. Drivers and assistants do a CPR course every second year and bus checks are done every six months. There are two back up buses and one driver is available in event of breakdowns and illness. An Operational handbook is supplied.
