Marshalltown is an endless hub of activity. Located in the Johannesburg CBD, it boasts a variety of big business, an abundance of residential developments as well as foot traffic from commuters who travel to other nodes of work, home and play. It is for this reason that Sandwich Baron has made a strategic decision to move into the city centre, to offer the hundreds and thousands of movers and shakers who interact with the CDB on a daily basis, healthy and convenient food alternatives.
Situated at 11 Maclaren Street, corner Fox Street, the new store is owned by two business partners, and sisters, Carmen Tobin and Rene Johnson, who draw on their experience in the food industry from their background in catering. Their company was contracted to a nursery school for six years and they have also specialised in catering for events such as conferences, weddings and birthdays.
Johnson says that they are excited about the new venture, ”Having done extensive site research, our findings revealed that there was a need for a business like Sandwich Baron in this area because of its unique offerings of free delivery as well as online ordering. Also, the market here is primed for our healthy options which you can have more than once a day.”
“Aside from offering lunch time meals, we also provide platters for meetings, allowing our community members to add value to their own business, clients as well as associates. It’s a win-win combination for all of us,” adds Tobin.
The new Sandwich Baron Marshalltown store officially opened its doors on Thursday, 20 August 2015, “those who know Sandwich Baron can attest to the fact that high quality is at the top of our agenda and we know our new community will appreciate the value that we add. As a result of word of mouth referrals, which we will gain through delivering a positive customer experience, we look forward to welcoming new customers every day,” continues Tobin.
Sandwich Baron’s founder and CEO, Sally J’Arlette-Joy, notes that the decision to open the store in this prime location made clear business sense.
“As one of the most successful franchising businesses in South Africa, we understand that time is money which is why this store will also be offering a delivery service so that our customers don’t have to waste any precious time having to leave the office to satisfy their hunger pangs.
“In addition, with Carmen and Rene’s business acumen and their solid understanding of the food industry, the Marshalltown community can rest assured that they will not only enjoy Sandwich Baron’s undeniably good food, but they will be back for more on a daily basis,” concludes J’Arlette-Joy.
