News Cafe, pioneers and market leaders in the social lifestyle venue category, has launched its exciting new flagship store at The Zone in Rosebank.
The iconic South African franchise, which is a unique combination of a premium coffee bar, cocktail bar, restaurant and entertainment venue, continues to set the benchmark for outstanding innovation in the food and beverage industry, having won best cocktail bar in Johannesburg by the leisure choice readers awards 17 years running.
Lambros Argirys, one of the founders of the News Cafe brand and Director at Fournews, a retail franchise group, says, “As a testament to two decades of growth aligned to shifts in market and consumer trends, the new store delivers an ingenious blend of hard metals and natural textures that speaks to the sophisticated and cosmopolitan urban consumer. Beautifully crafted features are accented by mood-enhancing lighting, lending the space a refined and contemporary feel juxtaposed with studded distressed leather seating which contributes to a uniquely South African cocktail lounge culture ambience.” He continues, “This will be the template for all News Cafes going forward and all stores will be aligned to this new look in due course.”
The flagship store’s modern, glass-expansed front allows in natural light and opens to a street front which offers patrons an urban pavement vibe. To celebrate the official launch of the Rosebank flagship store, News Cafe will be hosting one of its legendary opening events on 25 February 2016. Set to be one of the biggest and most talked-about parties this summer, the event will feature the musical genius of Lulo Cafe, Shorty on Saxx, and Maslo and Cherry. The A-list guests, including some of South Africa’s most glamorous celebrities as well as business and industry heavyweights, will be sipping from their festive tiki mugs as they experience the now-famous News Cafe South Sea Paradise cocktail.
“The event will be more than just a launch of a store; it will represent an unveiling of the direction that all our stores will be moving in over the coming year,” explains Varina Singh, marketing manager of News Cafe. “We look forward to exciting our guests with the bold new look, which is fresh and inviting while staying true to the News Cafe appeal that customers have enjoyed over the past twenty years. We have come up with something that we feel is eclectic, fresh and relevant, by creating the right space and the right offering for the right people we believe that News Cafe will retain its position as a premium venue that resonates with its growing customer base and a new generation of patrons. The News Cafe Rosebank flagship store will become an iconic venue in our city’s refined urban culture.”
