The Brand

Active English has been operating successfully since 1993. Due to an increasing demand for this service, it was decided that franchising was the best way to go for expansion purposes. So, in August 2001 the business was registered as a Pty (Ltd) and the franchising wheels were set into motion. There are currently 14 successful franchisees and 4 owner operated branches.

Antionette Slabbert, founder and owner of Active English was the proud winner of the FASA Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2010.

Description of Services

Active English has become a popular educational franchise that promotes intellectual, social and cultural development by using the English language as an extra-mural activity. It fosters a love for language, reading and the arts, using integrated methods to enrich the concepts of oral communication, literature study and written communication. This is a work from home business using a large room as a classroom and visiting nursery schools. Active English offers a unique and exclusive pre-school programme that is much sought after.

Active English believes that to survive in business today one needs to offer value for money and outstanding service.
Our motto is “work hard, go the extra mile, offer something special. Deliver on your promises and do each task with energy and perfection. Remember that ‘actions DO speak louder than words’.

The franchise packages start at R 60 000 to R 150 000 and includes thorough training. There is also a royalty fee of R 700 per month for the first year of operation; thereafter it is set at R 1 500 per month increasing at 10% per annum for a period of four years.
