Auto Care and Diagnostics (ACD) is a group of more than 50 franchises, based across South Africa. The Auto Care and Diagnostics brand, has been operating in the South African market for almost 10 years. Each franchise outlet is independently owned and operated by the owners who have a personal stake in the business.

The Brand

ACD was started in 2010 as a workshop concept to work closely with the existing Midas Spares shop concept. The close relationships between Midas and ACD enables the ACD concept to compete in the very traded workshop and repair segments of business.


ACD is a brand that converts existing workshops into a franchise concept, making them part of the Motus group. This offers the customer peace of mind and recourse.

All ACD franchisees must ensure all staff are trained and qualified, focused on providing excellent workmanship and exceptional customer service.

Target market is out of warranty vehicles needing repair and maintenance but also preparing to make use of “Right to repair” that is being gazette.

At ACD we remain focused on the owner’s entrepreneurial expertise as we feel as a franchisee the franchisor may own the brand, but the entrepreneur owns his business.

Staff consist of at least a manger, service advisor, cleaner, qualified motor technician and two apprentices. Location should be at least 280 m² with easy access to all customers.


As it is a conversion franchise, all staff requirements should be in place before being considered for a franchise.
* Technical and product training can be provided, but this is not certified training.
* A workshop management system is offered.
* National marketing and brand building is done by the Franchisor.
*Franchise support staff will visit regularly to assist with any questions and needs that arise.
* Yearly audits are conducted by the Franchisor to ensure that the Franchisees are up to standard and all requests are addressed.
