Kekkel en Kraai has been specialising in fresh and frozen chicken products since the first store opened in Malmesbury in 1996. Based on the overwhelming success of the Malmesbury store, a second Kekkel and Kraai was opened in Kraaifontein soon after, also selling fresh and frozen Tydstroom chicken and Nulaid eggs.
With some hard work and a steadfast focus on providing fresh, quality chicken products, Kekkel en Kraai expanded rapidly between 1996 and 2012, to 78 shops, spanning most of the Cape, from Vredendal in the Western Cape, to King Williams Town in the Eastern Cape. In doing so, Kekkel en Kraai soon became a household name across the Coastal regions and as far inland as Beaufort Wes!
Kekkel en Kraai provides fresh and frozen chicken products. Products range from small braai packs and eggs, to large economy size chicken packs and more.

Fresh, Healthy and Safe Products:
Our chicken products are from Halaal certified factories, and a number of our outlets are Halaal certified. See the Halaal certificate at your nearest Kekkel en Kraai for more information.
The Tydstroom factories, where our chicken products are prepared, are HACCP accredited – an international food safety accreditation.
Kekkel en Kraai franchisees receive training prior to store opening followed by extensive operations support during the first month of trading. During the annual franchise conference sustainable competitive advantage is developed further through discussion, training and industry related presentations such as legislative compliance.
From their head office in Malmesbury the dedicated Kekkel en Kraai team aims to improve the efficiency and quality levels of franchisees. Since Kekkel en Kraai sells mainly fresh and frozen poultry products, it is essential that the cold chain be protected to ensure that the supply of goods is reliable. Continuous process development aimed at improving delivery and performance is an on-going head office function.
