The Minuteman Press concept was founded with the objective of eliminating the shortcomings experienced by “quick printers” by establishing versatile and productive full service print centres. Today, Minuteman Press is uniquely positioned in the print and graphics industry to fulfil the needs of businesses large and small.
Regardless of the prevailing economic conditions, every business needs printing on a daily basis. Producing products that are handed out, mailed, written on and eventually thrown away only to be reordered and replaced regularly, means there is a tremendous amount of repeat business in this segment of the industry.
According to the Caslon PDP Market Segment Report dated May 2011, the retail value of printed pages purchased grew by over $10 billion between 2004 and 2010. Looking to the future, this growth trend in digital printing is expected to continue and Minuteman Press’ unique niche in the printing industry allows the franchise owners to take advantage of this phenomenal growth in the digital market.
Since Minuteman Press opened its first franchise operation in 1975, their business model has seen many changes. By harnessing the advances in digital technology, they are able to manufacture products at lower operating costs and faster than ever before, while still delivering the quality and service customers have come to expect.
Minuteman Press’ extensive range of services includes printing services, copying and document reproduction and graphic design services. Ancillary services offered include binding, embossing, foil stamping and saddle stitching. The product range includes envelopes, flyers, invitations, labels, manuals, menus, price lists and presentation folders to name but a few.
All businesses, large and small, use printed matter in their daily operations and are therefore potential customers of Minuteman Press. Minuteman Press franchises are capable of fulfilling the total graphic needs of almost every type of business.
The regional Minuteman Press head office provides pre and post-opening assistance and support. This includes technical and marketing support as well as assistance with the interviewing, testing, appointing and training of personnel.
Minuteman Press will assess the suitability of potential locations on behalf of franchisees. The assessment takes into account the population, surrounding businesses and business centres. To ensure the most effective utilization of shop space, layouts are designed based on the unique floor plan of each store.
Franchisees attend a two week training programme at the corporate headquarters training facility in Farmingdale, New York. As the vast majority of Minuteman Press franchisees have no prior industry experience and/or have never owned a business before, the comprehensive training programmme covers all aspects of the business from management, marketing and pricing to using their proprietary business software.
The ideal Minuteman Press franchisee is an outgoing, hardworking and self-motivated individual who strives for service excellence and has the ability to follow systems.
