Our franchise was borne out of gap we had identified for business owners to receive top professional advice and service but not at the extreme costs charged by large auditing firms. In 2001 we started the first Tax Shop Accountants office and finally decided to franchise the concept in 2007. Today we are the largest accounting and tax franchise with more than 100 offices operating successfully in Southern Africa.
As we continue to expand, we remain focused on building a network of top professionals to help new accountants and all our clients. We currently have a handful of franchises operating outside of South Africa and plan to establish a greater international footprint.

As the largest accounting and tax franchise in Southern Africa, we are unique in our high growth and success rate. Our non-intrusive franchise model means that franchisees operate as independently as they wish. Through the use of world-class technology, systems, training and communications, we have differentiated ourselves as the professional service provider of choice.
While our franchise has traditionally serviced small and medium-sized businesses, we have grown to service many large entities too. Our rules allow franchises to accept clients from anywhere in SA and internationally which means that clients acquisition is not limited to physical location.
Most new franchisees work remotely (e.g. from home) on their own initially and then transition to office space as they grow and take on more staff. Franchise sizes differ greatly within our group with total staff compliment ranging from 1 person to 15 persons.
All new franchisees start their journey with us by attending, in person, induction training (3 days) at our Head Office in Pretoria during which time we focus on the principles required to establish a successful accounting and tax practice.
In addition to the abovementioned induction training, franchisees gain access to our Franchisee Zone which contains a large volume of training material in written and video format. We regularly host webinars in our group on technical topics (e.g. trusts, tax, statutory changes, etc.) as well as practical topics (e.g. practice management, systemisation and scaling, pricing, etc.) which are recorded and placed in our Franchisee Zone.
Finally, we have associations with professional organisations (e.g. SAIT, Tax Faculty, CIBA, SAAA, etc.) which provides more formal training to franchisees at discounted rates should franchise owners or their staff wish to pursue further training in tax, accounting, law, etc.
Franchisees are regularly mentored through online meetings with company directors and partake in active regional forums where they can communicate and learn from other franchise owners.
Franchise owners should have a qualification in accounting and/or tax or a strong working experience in these fields and individuals with a strong background in finance. We require the CV of new applicants in order to assess their suitability as prospective franchisees.
